Lady Frederick Windsor visits Evelina London Children's Hospital
Our Patron, Lady Frederick Windsor, visited the Evelina London Children’s Hospital to see the difference being made to young patients by the mobile ultrasound vein finder we donated.
During the visit she met with patients and medical teams to discuss the impact of having the ultrasound vein finder within easy reach on the ward, making the process of cannulation and IV access so much easier for all. Sophie said the vein finders “are absolutely incredible – they are game changers” and she urged people to donate to the campaign.
She said “Very sick children often have to have cannulas put in place for blood tests, fluids and medication during their treatment, and this can be traumatising. Children have tiny veins so inserting tubes or taking blood can be very tricky and time-consuming. The ultrasound vein finders locate the vein instantly, which makes inserting cannulas much less scary for small children and less distressing for their parents.”
