A vein finder for Nottingham Hospital

A special thank you to our incredible local volunteer fundraisers

We could not make a difference to the lives of sick children without the support of donors and volunteers. We are incredibly grateful to two such volunteers, Margaret Thorpe and Sue Bennett from Ruddington Grange Golf Club who raised more than £12,000 towards the ultrasound machine for Nottingham Children’s Hospital through their annual Children’s Charity Day.

Trustee Richard Stewart and CEO Helen Ison were delighted to visit Nottingham Children’s Hospital with Margaret and Sue in the summer to see the new ultrasound machine in action.

Sue shared: “We are exceptionally proud that our support of Children’s Surgery Foundation allowed for the purchase of an ultrasound machine. It was lovely to meet the doctors, surgeons and nurses who are involved in using the machine. We realised very quickly the difference the scanner makes in their work. When a doctor explained they use different sized needles for cannulation depending on the age of the patient – from premature babies to teenagers – it brought a tear to my eye. I just could not imagine a tiny baby in surgery.”.
