Our Purpose

We work to enhance the experience of children needing surgery in the UK.

We exist to enhance children’s experience of surgery.

Surgery is a difficult experience for anyone. But for children, their families and carers, surgery is an especially scary experience.

Making this encounter as positive and easy as possible for all involved is what drives us.

Driving clinical practice forward requires a multi-pronged approach. That’s why we work alongside the UK’s centres of paediatric excellence  and the broader NHS help to deliver the vital care children need. We support them with technology and tools to improve clinical care, research to help guide the future of excellence and training to ensure best practice is shared amongst our medics as widely as possible.

Since we were founded in 1981, we have funded a groundbreaking robot, ‘Pluto’, to transform paediatric surgery, as well as provided tens of thousands of pounds’ worth of specialist neonatal and general equipment to improve children’s and young people’s surgical experiences.

Our current major campaign is the Beam Campaign, which aims to provide mobile ultrasound vein finder equipment in each of the UK’s 26 paediatric units .
