45th Anniversary

We are the only organisation in the UK focused on improving surgery for children, no matter why they need surgery, no matter where in the UK they live or access healthcare and no matter at which stage of childhood they are. We know that now, more than ever before, children in the UK need us to work with the hospitals, medics, medical schools, societal agencies and other organisations whose operation impact surgical improvements.

This year marks an incredible moment for Children’s Surgery Foundation. We have been in existence for 45 years, and over this time we’ve helped improve the experience of surgery for thousands of children and in doing so, their families and carers and the medical teams who treat them.

Do you know that only 4% of all charities reach a 45th anniversary? For many, a 45th anniversary is simply another step on a life journey, but we feel very differently about this amazing achievement. We are so delighted to be able to support so many children, so inordinately grateful to have learnt so much, so excited about combining our history, knowledge and commitment to improving the future of children’s surgery, that we are using this opportunity to grow what we do and build a stronger platform from which to advance children’s surgery.

We have set ourselves a clear plan to make this period matter more. So you can expect to see and hear more from us around this time and going forward.  We intend to:

  • launch a new major fundraising campaign;
  • advocate on children’s behalf, raise awareness of the need to make children’s surgical experiences and journey’s a matter of national interest, highlighting to everyone the absolute need to advance children’s surgery.

At the same time, we intend to have a lot of fun. Between October 2026 and March 2027
 we’re hosting a fabulous programme of activity and we’re looking to you to join in with the celebrations. Whether you like attending gala dinners, family fun days, comedy shows, getting active and raising money for a charity by yourself or with a group of friends, or building your insight and knowledge to understand more about how children’s surgery is delivered in the UK, we’ve got something for you.

Find out more about how to join in our celebrations, support us by fundraising in one of our dedicated events such as 45 for 45, sponsoring one of our events, or simply donating and possibly becoming the next member of our exclusive Brueton Society
