We have recently launched an ambitious new campaign – The Beam Campaign – to ensure that intravenous (IV) access is a more efficient and less intimidating procedure for young patients and their families. We want to help by providing each of the 26 paediatric surgical units in the country with an ultrasound vein finder. These ultrasound vein finders allow clinicians to identify the most appropriate blood vessel quickly and easily, which reduces pain, and the risk of damage to veins from repeated attempts.
